What is a Healthy Diet?


Before actually getting into it, lets get to know what a healthy diet is. 

A healthy diet includes food items from the 5 major food groups:

1. Vegetable
2. Fruits
3. Lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts and seeds, legumes or beans.
4. Grain or Cereal food
5. Milk

Benefits

Better Heart Health

Studies prove that eating more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, opting for low fat or fat free dairy, fish, poultry, beans, nuts and vegetable oils, and limiting saturated and trans fat intake  may lead to a better heart health and less chances of heart attack or cardiac arrest.

Less Risk of Cancer

Having a diet that contains antioxidants, might help reducing the risk of cancer. While free radicals present in the body increase the chances of cancer, having a good antioxidant rich diet helps doing the opposite. 

Weight Loss

Including diet full of less fat or fat free products help maintain the calorie level in the body. Other than fat free products, one can include more vegetables and fruits in the diet.

Stronger bones and teeth

We all know calcium is essential for the bones. So including calcium rich products in the diet ensures a healthy bone and teeth health.
